SNIC3000 - IC3 Series Certification Training

Course Description

This course prepares students to earn the IC3 (Internet and Computing Core Certification) using the online curriculum by Teknimedia. Through interactive modules, videos, and hands-on activities, students build foundational digital literacy skills needed for success in education, training programs, and the workplace.

The course covers key areas of computing, including computer hardware and software basics, operating systems, file management, internet navigation, online communication, and digital safety. Students will also develop practical skills in common workplace applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.

Teknimedia’s self-paced platform allows students to practice and reinforce skills through real-world simulations and assessments, while instructors provide guidance, support, and supplemental instruction as needed. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to sit for the IC3 certification exams and demonstrate competency in essential digital skills.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate foundational knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems
Navigate and manage files and folders efficiently within a computer system
Use the internet effectively for research, communication, and accessing online services
Apply digital safety and security practices, including protecting personal information and recognizing online risks
Create, format, and edit documents using word processing software
Perform basic data entry, calculations, and formatting in spreadsheet applications
Develop and deliver simple presentations using presentation software
Utilize the Teknimedia platform to complete modules, assessments, and skill-building activities
Demonstrate readiness for the IC3 certification exams by successfully completing practice assessments and coursework

Instructional Material Will Be Provided to Students

Requirements to Participate:

Must be receiving SNAP benefits
Cannot be receiving cash assistance (TAFDC or EAEDC)
Must reside in the state of Massachusetts
Must be able to travel to classes and mandatory orientation(s) on the Lawrence campus
If non-native English speaker, must test in SPL-5+/NRS 5+ level
