SNEE3001 - English for Employment II (Intermediate)
Course Description
English for Employment (Intermediate) is a 12-week course designed for SNAP recipients with developing English proficiency (SPL 3–4). Meeting 6 hours per week, the course strengthens participants’ ability to communicate effectively in job search and workplace settings while building on foundational English skills.
Instruction focuses on expanding vocabulary, improving sentence structure, and increasing fluency in both spoken and written English. Participants will engage in practical, workforce-focused activities such as analyzing job postings, completing more detailed job applications, and writing targeted resumes and cover letters. The course also emphasizes verbal communication skills, including describing past work experience, discussing strengths, and asking relevant questions in interviews.
Participants will receive guided support in creating and refining a professional profile on LinkedIn and will practice networking strategies appropriate for their language level. Through mock interviews, role-plays, and collaborative activities, learners will build confidence and accuracy in professional communication. Workplace readiness topics—such as teamwork, problem-solving, and professional expectations—are integrated throughout the course.
