Intro to Digital Photography

Digital Photography has made it technologically possible to generate countless photographs at virtually no cost, yet the formal problems of picture making remain – how is it possible to create photographs with power and significance? This course explores basic technical issues of the digital photography workflow joined with a formal exploration of seeing photographically, using both shooting assignments and exercises. Examples from the photographic tradition will be examined. This class can serve as a foundation for students interested in exploring photography as a potential career path or as preparation for further study within degree programs that incorporate photography.

Students must have a digital camera or cell phone with manual controls and basic computer literacy. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion.
