Course Description

This class is designed for people of all ages who do not play at all or perhaps play a few chords on their own. You'll be joining a group of like-minded people who love music and want to learn how to play their guitar. Students will learn basics elements of music theory needed to play songs right away. They will leave the group with the ability to play several songs and to learn new songs on their own. The group will be primarily hands on with the instrument. The class will also be a judgement free zone where students can feel comfortable learning.

Each student will need a guitar that is playable. This can be an acoustic (classical or steel string) guitar or an electric. If electric, you must also have a small amplifier and connecting cord. Students should bring a small notepad and pen.

Instructor: Maria Wolters is an accomplished musician, teacher, and social worker who plays several instruments. She has specialized in teaching beginners who would like to learn to play right away and to enjoy a fun, stress-free approach. Ms. Wolters plays music in several genres and is currently in a group playing American Roots music. She enjoys all types of music including rock, blues, Latin, swing, and country and teaches with a focus on universal skills that can be used in any type of music.
