Course Description

Creative Writing is a broad term. There are many forms of writing, but becoming a good writer invariably means broadening your perspective – learning to be an observer of life. Being a writer is much more than putting pen to paper or hammering away at a keyboard. The first step is to train your mind to look at life with greater discernment, to notice details and translate them into words and phrases that engage, entertain, and educate.

You can learn to be a creative writer and construct amazing stories, poems, essays, even novels and screenplays by using specific methods that have guided many writers to successful careers. This course will get you started even if you’ve never written before, and it can help bring you to the next level if you’ve already had experience as a writer. In a workshop setting, participants are asked to write and share their work for open discussion and intelligent critiquing. Each class will cover the basics but will also include fun exercises to help you shift perspective and embrace a new way of seeing the world.
